Lakewood Law Directors

Post by Bridget Conant »

What is it about law directors and prosecutors in Lakewood? We seem to attract some questionable characters.

You may recall friend of Kevin Butler and Ed Fitzgerald, Scott Claussen, who formerly worked in our law department with them, was arrested for drug trafficking and later convicted.

Now another former member of that office's club has been arrested and charged with money laundering:

I would think a lawyer would know what activities are illegal. Sorta interesting how many bad apples came out of Lakewood's employ.

Oh my!

It wasn't that long ago that I made a lot of money helping clients sue dumb and crooked lawyers.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of bad actors out there.

Since I can't edit, let me clarify my post. Claussen was allowed to enter "intervention in lieu of conviction." It appears he will be required to enter a treatment program which, in turn, keeps him from having a conviction on his record.

How many people get that deal?

My guess is a lot of them.

Was Butler full-time or part-time Lakewood Law director prior to his Law Director gig in Brooklyn? If he was Lakewood full-time, did he take a cut in pay in Lakewood?

Didn't Butler and Clausen also work at the county together, where I believe there is even more corruption?

Also, Clausen also get a slap on the wrist?
