Observer Hoops Road Trip: Lakewood 78, Glenville 70

Post by Michael Deneen »

The Observer news team traveled to Glenville High School on Saturday for the Ranger/Tarblooder boys basketball game.
The Rangers won 78-70, leading virtually the entire game. Both teams ran the floor all night, as Lakewood was physically fit enough to maintain the fast pace for a full four quarters.
Lakewood jumped to a 22-14 lead in the 1st quarter, and the Tarblooders made numerous runs to tighten or tie the score. However, the Rangers pulled away in the final minutes behind strong rebounding and free throw shooting.
Our hosts were very gracious, as Alex and I met the Glenville coach's brother and mother.

Lakewood played Glenville's fast break pace all night, and was able to keep it up all four quarters.

The Tarblooders' #1 fan...the Mom of head coach Michael Holt. She is always in the front row to cheer the team.

Ranger guard Jack Witri #21 had a great game. He hit many three pointers from the corner, often stopping Glenville scoring runs.

Witri's parents look on approvingly. Jack, who also played quarterback for the football team, is one of the many multi-sport athletes at LHS.
