You got my vote! and it looks like we're running away with this.

Re: Vote for Harding as Cool School of Week
I think it would be great if Harding were named a “cool school,” but….
At the bottom of the voting link provided above is the Fox8 (a Tribune Company) privacy policy, or perhaps more correctly their non-privacy policy. It applies to information they gather off your computer while you “participate in voting or polling activities,” among many other things.
Click here for the Tribune Company privacy policy….
Basically while you are voting they are going to rifle through your computer, collect as much information as they possibly can about you and your online activities, store it for an indefinite amount of time, and sell that information whenever they want to whoever will pay for it to use for whatever purpose they want.
I’m a bit of a privacy nut. I don’t permit my online browsing history to be stored, I don’t permit cookies, I use primarily private search engines (duckduckgo and ixquick, not google), I use a private domain for email (e.g. not gmail), stuff like that. But I know there are still gaps in my privacy and security efforts (e.g. I use the public Internet and not a VPN), so I also limit the online places I visit. I tell my kids, if you don’t pay for it (like Facebook, Twitter, online voting), it’s YOU that’s being sold.
Sorry. I just don’t want my private information, info that I have not yet managed to conceal, on another database. Especially not a media giant like Tribune. I think you all should be similarly cautious, but that’s just me….

Thank you, Mr. Liston, for making us aware of this. Now people can decide whether to vote with their eyes open regarding privacy.
