The attached offer to purchase Lakewood Hospital's Columbia Road facility is higher than CCF's offer.
Note on page 6, that the President & CEO of Surgical Development Partners (SPD) wanted to discuss with LHA Chairman Tom Gable "potential structures, plan or uses for the Lakewood Hospital main campus."
I have independently verified that SPD is interested in Lakewood Hospital.
So we have a potential better offer for Columbia Road and a potential partner or buyer for Lakewood Hospital, but Tom Gable refuses to engage with them.
So even though Gable and LHA Trustees are duty bound to operate a hospital and/or obtain the best prices for LHA assets, Gable is refusing to consider any alternatives besides giving CCF a gift.
Please remember that Gable was the guy who told a City Councilmember in late 2013 that LHA and CCF would be proposing and FHC to replace the hospital--that was before the bogus RFP process even started.

Let's not forget that the gift to CCF is upwards of $100 million in hospital assets should the "good news" come to pass AND that this also translates into over $250 million/yr in lost economic activity for Lakewood as a whole. In other words, it's a $350 million loss the first year, and $250 million loss from then on.
$350 million in exchange for a $35 million "investment" by the CCF doesn't sound like "good news" to me but it does to our mayor, wow!
Talk about a gift that keeps on taking!
