What's Missing In The Explanation of the Mayor's "Deal"?

Post by Brian Essi »

Next week, we will enter the 11th month since the LOI was announced.

What information is still missing?

Here are just a few "little" pieces of missing information that should give us all pause:

1. What's the "plan" for the 5.7 acres--who, what, when, how many employers/employees, how much payroll and real estate taxes?

2. Who will control the leftover money and what will be done with it?

3. What's the "plan" to make us "The Healthiest City in America"--have we heard ANY details? Was there a meeting on this?

4. What's the City Hall's own economic impact assessment and what's the "plan" to address that "little" problem (estimated by CCF at $288 million annual loss to Lakewood)?

5. How exactly does CCF allocate over $20 million per year in "overhead" to our hospital at our expense?

Is this a "deal" or as Jim O'Bryan says, a "CON"?

Is there any other "little" information you all would like to know before city hall decides to close the hospital and get virtually nothing for it?

What are they hiding from us?

Con is such and ugly word.

I am still amazed at how fast the residents were willing to give $53,000,000 away to people they don't know, or what they will do with it, and will never have a say in how it is spent. When it was all our money to start with. Just nuts.

I am still trying to figure out, how giving away $53 million, and closing down the largest employer is going to keep our taxes down.

I am not really that good at math but it sure seems like...

It is pretty amazing, the city just spent $53 million on WHO KNOWS WHAT?

One year ago the mayor told LOBC there was no money for $10,000 basketball courts, and in the past year he has spent $2 million on spin and crisis management, $2.1 on Solstice Steps, given the Clinic $6 million in property, and given stood over and expedited the looting of $53 million in public assets.

Did something happen that I missed? What does the $53 milion that was "just spent" refer to? It sounds like something new...

Brian,

What's missing indeed?

In January 2015, Mike Summers and his gang proclaimed that the sky would fall if we all didn't join in the killing of the hospital for a recreation center ... err ... minute clinic ... err ... mixed housing ... err ... wonderful economic development opportunities.

Folks on Team Summers and Build Lakewood boldly proclaimed - from January 2015 through election day - that, if the hospital wasn't immediately killed, we would be left with a vacant piece of property forever. Forever!

So, what's missing?

I respectfully submit that something very important was discovered.

We all found city council members willing to hold Mike Summers and his gang accountable ... because City Council knows that Mike Summers and his gang were neither honest nor transparent in the Lakewood Hospital debacle.

Dan

Number's fluctuate, because we have never seen real numbers from the administration or LHA.

Back in January the Lakewood Hospital Association a public group had over $53 million in assets, but June I think it went to $57 million.

That money goes to the Cleveland Clinic, it was public assets, where $34 million comes back to the new yet to be named or formed non-profit.

The rest stays with the Clininc to pay for land and their new healthcare clinic.

Shocked? It was in our first article. I never posted need for hospital, too gray. But the amount of public funds lost to an unnamed un-purposed group, and the Cleveland Clinic is staggering. I wish I could break a lease and make millions.

The residents of Lakewood just voted away $53 million to give to the Cleveland Clinic.

Then there is the $47 million over at LHF which only 75% could have been grabbed according to a couple lawyers.

This is what was worth lying, misleading and even cheating. My buddy who worked for the Department of Justice, said, "It's always about the money." This is why the Assistant AG was at the hearing Mayor Summers did not go to. You take public held funs, mover them through 3 different agencies and it pops out $34 million for a yet to be named or purposed organization that the public has no control over, they take notice. This is what I have said throughout, there are about ten other cases floating out there depending on what is done.

When you realize this entire deal was hatched with under ten people, in secret, answering to no one, you get an idea of where we are headed.

Now comes word that Lakewood Hospital could be worth $173 million you start to really understand just how bad this whole things really is.
