Beebe & Einhouse Support Hospital Destruction & Birdtown Brewery

Post by Lori Allen _ »

As election day approaches, let us not forget that Linda Beebe and Tom Einhouse are steadfast supporters of BuildLakewood and the destruction of Lakewood Hospital. Both have BuildLakewood and Summers signs in their yards. I have also been told by several credible sources that Beebe & Einhouse supported the opening of a brewery across the street from Harrison Elementary School. When you are supposed to be looking after the well-being of our children, why on Earth would you support such an idea? I have also been told by a credible source that the city is trying to push through a resolution that would make the streets in Birdtown one way in order to allow for more parking for the brewery.

At Monday night's council meeting, two new liquor permits are on the docket. I believe this will bring us close to 100+ bars. I believe that even Winterhurst has a bar in it.

Why would you put the wants of our mayor above the safety and well-being of our children? I have also been told that Shaughnessy supported the Birdtown brewery, although she is not running this year. She also has a Summers sign in her yard. I believe she also supports the hospital closure.

I also believe that Patrick Metzger, ward 1 candidate, was on the planning commission when the Birdtown brewery was approved. Since the planning commission's vote to go through with the brewery was unanimous, I assume that Mr. Metzger voted for it. Would the mayor and his friends ever put a bar in the middle of Clifton Park? I don't think so. The majority of ward 4 continues to be ward 5 (Lakewood's forgotten and not cared about ward).

FWIW.

Emma Petrie-Barcelona has not come out publically as to whether or not she is in favor of keeping or closing the hospital. Her father is the name in the disclaimer on the anti-issue 64 cards. It would be nice if she could come out and make a statement.

I know for a fact that Emma Petrie Barcelona is for closing the Hospital. I have seen her posts of Build Lakewood. Additionally, I know her step mother who has told me that the entire family are staunch Summers/anti Hospital supporters.

Amy,

I am saddened if what you say about Emma is true. However, from my personal perspective I can respect her because when I as a lone citizen called her in July to inquire about the rec center tax increase issues she seemed open and articulate.

That should be contrasted with Beebe and Einhouse who both avoided discussions in my repeated efforts--they were just too busy and broke promises to return my calls.

It was clear to me they have something to hide.

I was initially most disappointed in Einhouse because I had entertained him and his family in my home on Pelee Island and had enjoyed a social relationship with him. I found it even more bizarre when his wife Cindy had asked to be my friend on Facebook around the time Linda Beebe had added her name to the bogus Police information report claiming to be "frightened" by me. Especially since I am told that she now admits she made it all up with the rest of the BL gang trying to threaten a private citizen they don't agree with on the hospital.

Beebe is a reckless person who has exposed the City and School District to liability for Civil Right claims.

Beebe and Einhouse really aren't the kind of leaders we need at the School Board at this time. We have three far better candidates than these insiders' club types who like to hide in the shadows and cut Backroom deals with Summers.

Beebe is a relic of the past--we need to move forward not backward.

Four years ago, Ms. Petrie Barcelona was endorsed by then County Executive Ed FitzGerald and Mayor Mike Summers. Then just days before the 2011 election she received public support from BOE Member Linda Beebe and Candidate Tom Einhouse in a joint literature distribution effort. More on the 2011 School Board race here http://lakewoodobserver.com/read/2011/1 ... one-counts.

In this election cycle Ms. Petrie Barcelona has endorsed Mayor Summers. She avoids taking a position on the hospital in the NEOMG candidate debate when asked, talking instead about the Cleveland Clinic mobile health unit. You can view her response here http://www.cleveland.com/lakewood/index ... ial-report at the 53:00 mark.

Based on the above, others’ comments and her “go along to get along” approach on the board, I suspect she sides with Beebe, Einhouse & Shaughnessy in favor of closing the hospital.

Most folks are not paying attention to the school board race but I think they should. The Lakewood Board of Education oversees our recreation department which could benefit from a new wellness foundation should Summers get his way. Besides the soccer dome mentioned in another thread, some hope to get funding for the indoor high school track as well. While these would be nice amenities for our city, I don’t want to pay for them with our hospital.

Meg,

I've heard that Summers has dangled money for the track and there is a denial of the new foundation money being what is dangled.

I've also heard that there may be some financial issues at the School District that may lead to future requests for taxes so it seems what I refer to as " carrot dangling" by the mayor is very suspicious as to timing and sources.

At my first meeting with him, Summers promised me that he and I would continue a dialogue on the hospital regardless of our differences. However, he broke his promise within a week--simply because I proposed alternatives to his Plan---alternatives that would yield a better economic deal for Lakewood.

I continued to pursue him in good faith for many weeks until I discovered he was not being straight with me and the public and he had other special interests in mind.

So I get the backscratchers' mentality--go along to get along.

In over 30 years as a businessman and attorney, I have never seen such a pervasive and widespread group of self-serving "yes men and yes- women" who cow to such a feeble "leader" who has abused his "power"---and I have spent the majority of those 30 years exposing large law firms, accounting firms and corporations for corruption.

So when my probe led to the BOE I was shocked what I learned.

I am now receiving unsolicited information from people I never knew existed--ferreting it out is exhausting and the pushback I'm getting is stiff---if 1/4 of it can be verified---then Ed Favre's assessment of the grandest scandal of all will prove to be quite prophetic.

By way of example only, consider why Beebe, a lawyer of many years, would make such a frivolous complaint to the Police to try to silence my efforts?

It all seems a very desperate and feeble effort by her an others to prevent being "found out" as her longstanding cloak of secrecy is being shredded revealing an ugly naked truth.

This summer detailed plans for the rec center dated May, 2014 were posted on the Deck that showed the Lakewood City Schools would be an affiliated partner in the project. Who at the BOE helped with and agreed with the formulation of those plans?
