Has the acute rehab at Lakewood already been sold off?

Post by Ryan Salo »

I heard from a volunteer that the Lakewood acute rehab has been sold to a third party group and is leaving Lakewood immediately. Has anyone else heard this?

Ryan, you are correct .....the newly remodeled Acute Rehab floor was sold to Select Medical almost 2 years ago to be moved to the new Avon Rehab Facility. Select Medical is the company chosen by CCF to run their new facility. Since Rehab beds are licensed by the state, there can only be so many...so Lakewood Hospital's beds were sold in anticipation of this move. LHA/CCF did this and STILL denied the hospital was closing.

Lakewood nursing homes were not even given a chance to bid on that business. The Mayor sure seems eager to move Lakewood business to Avon.

Mayor Skindell should have that sale voided. It was a sneaky back room deal.

Could someone explain to me how the Clinic can "sell" Lakewood hospital services to a third party without LHA approval? Was that approval sought? Was it granted?

Bridget,

Another scary thought is, more than likely, John Litten will be the next Ward 3 Council person. An LHA member, which apparently he thought was not important enough to mention as he went door to door campaigning. I believe he has also stated that, if elected, he will not give up his seat on the LHA. So, it looks like we will have another one of Summers friends in the drivers seat leading us over the cliff. As a catholic, I find his dishonest campaign strategies disgraceful!

LHA IS CCF so they easily approved the selling of the rehab beds. The skilled nursing beds have also been sold, of course way under priced, to another company (unsure of the name of company). Those beds are also being moved OUT OF LAKEWOOD, without a Lakewood nursing home facility even given a chance to bid on them.
