Two Parishes Saved--Perhaps Hope for St. James?

Post by Mike Deneen »

This week it was announced that St. Colman parish on W. 65th would be spared from its previously announced closing. Today it was announced that St. Ignatius of Antioch (the really TALL tower on West Blvd) will also remain open.

Could this perhaps be a hopeful sign for St. James? Is there anything new to report on their appeal?

In the story in the Sunday Plain Dealer, spokesman Bob Tayek stated that the appeal process is now over. Parishes will need to take their case to Rome to go the next step. The PD also reported that several of the closing churches are considering pooling their resources to do just that. Michael O'Malley of the PD is being kept up to speed pretty closely, so I'm sure details will be shared when they are available.
