What a nice weekend in Lakewood.

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

Well at least for me.

Spent two hours with Father Duke the Father of St. Cyril and Methodius Parish on Friday night. Then dinner at 56 West.

Coffee with friends on Saturday at Phoenix, bela dubby, and by the end of the day Caribou. In between at the Lakewood Home Show Expo, talking with all sorts of people I had not seen over the winter. Got two people looking at my roof on the rental. Sunday dragging out cars and getting them ready for summer, yard work, and special time on a special project. Dinner at the WestEnd that went well into the AM.

So nice being here in Lakewood.

There was WAY too much to do this weekend, so I couldn't help with our Block Club neighborhood clean-up.

Did get to the Home Show and had fun.

Off to Junk to Funk at Local Girl.

Made a run to Lakewood Park - it was PACKED.

Took a cruise through the canyon and came up for dinner at 56 West.

Sunday was a blur as well... and the work continued into today. Cut out the arborvitae the raccoons use - we have more to put in. What a difference getting rid of old landscaping stuff!

Man, I love summer in Lakewood. I just noticed this morning that all of a sudden the trees had leaves. I love that day. Last week driving through the park, I noticed some green peeking up through the undergrowth. Always love that day, too, when the park starts to turn green. Haven't been down there in the evening recently to hear the spring peepers, but I'm sure they're out.

I was taking a walk in Chicago a couple weeks back, Thursday night, 8:30, pleasant, but only 40-45 degrees, and there were a million people out. True, I was in a popular part of town, but it wasn't a 70 degree Friday. I remember thinking how great that was, how alive the city felt.

Sunday evening my wife and I walked down to Phoenix for iced coffee after working in our plots at Webb Garden, and I felt that same feeling I had in Chicago. So many people out, just heading here or there, stopping to chat, walking dogs. Man, I love summer in Lakewood.
Be the change you want to see in the world.
