Thank you for the quick turnaround on this story.

Thealexa Becker, what can I say. A pleasure to read your words,
especially knowing what you went through to get them.

Civic Journalism at its finest.

"And while most voters have probably already chosen their candidate, the rally did seem to succeed in building excitement in the Northeast Ohio Republican Party."

Thank you for underlining, how it works when people take part.

Great day for Lakewood!

I can see that Palin brought out the entire Republican base from CLE+, not to mention all those Obama supporters in the distance.

She's a unifying force!

BTW, the photo is great. You can almost see Russia. Is that Putin's head?

Once again, more snot factor but then again Stephen I am beginning to wonder if you are capable of anything else. The article, the pictures...please. I wish Ivor was a republican at the moment so he would have taken pictures and raved about this event. What a joke that so many people have to be so mean spirited about something so positive for Lakewood.

Jennifer,

Okay, I'll take back the Putin thing.

Steve

For the record, those were not Obama supporters in the distance.. I counted about 6 Obama supporters at the event.. 3 were dressed in costumes and three were carrying signs.. I found the 3 gentlemen dressed up in the animal costumes very amusing and entertaining..

Nice balanced work, Thealexa!

Well-written, reflective, and comprehensive! :D

Uh, Stephen? That photo's facing in a southern direction.

Not towards Russia.

So, depending upon one's polemical point of view, I suppose whatever people might "see" off in the distance there could be anyone from Fidel, to Robert E. Lee's statue on Stone Mountain...

Actually, I wonder whether that strong ray of light could have been a reflection off MY bald spot?

...nah, probably, ulp, hopefully not! :D

Steve,

Thanks, you really do not have to take anything back, just perhaps use the adage of "If you can't say anything nice..." I know you and I are are on complete opposite sides here but come on.

I voted today. :D

My choice for president would probably displease either Jennifer, or Steve (Davis)

I understand that, and that's why I'm not trumpeting that choice right now.

I enjoy both Jennifer and Stephen tremendously as individuals, and certainly would not want to upset either one of them.

Because I have many Republican friends, I did not show the Obama crowd in my photo essay. (And sorry Steve E., I would guess that there were MANY of them out there)

Because I have many Democratic friends, I would not let it be said either that the crowd yesterday rivaled a rock concert in size. (I'd say, more like a jazz concert)

C'mon all, let's put the polemics to rest for a bit. Let's put people above polemics. One way or another, I'm guessin' that about half of this country one way or the other, is goon be hurtin' seriously tonight. Let's be on hand to help each other with the emotional clean-up.

Banjo time's comin soon... :D

I can't wait for the banjo Gary. I respect Steve Davis as well, I think he is very smart and thoughtful, lots of fun with a quirky sense of humor and a ready smile. I am just tired of the other stuff. Oh well...onwards and upward so to speak. :D

That would mean no matter who wins tonight America will be hurting.

Jennifer,

Please don't make the assumption of thinking that just because I'm a democrat I didn't attend the event.

1. I was up until 3am the night before working on orders, and being there at 6AM wasn't going to fly for me.
2. I had class at 10am, meaning I had to leave the house by 915am. The day before at the Obama rally, I talked to a photojournalist from the Associated Press office in NY, who just flew in to cover Obama after covering the earthquake in Pakistan. He said that every time he has done a Sarah Palin rally, she was an hour late. Meaning the start time of 9am is pushed back to 10 am. Three other traveling photographers backed him up with similar experiences.
3. School comes before anything else.

I missed John McCain every single time he came around here because I was in school, and because they did not get back to me about press credentials.

I would have loved to done the thing, if I didn't have classes all day and if they'd actually let me in.

I apologize for having my priorities straight.
