Thai Mart?

Post by c. dawson »

Saw a store on Detroit over near the YMCA called "Thai Mart." Anyone know much about this place?

New Thai food supply store. I stopped in there once to see what kind of sauce they had and met the owner. Her name is Ben and she was very helpful!

She was getting ready for her FREE Thai cooking classes that she holds each Saturday at 2PM.

This was early August though so I don't know if she still has them. I haven't been able to attend but she just opened and has a lot of plans for the place. I bought some dried hot peppers and some rice noodles - now if I could just find a place that carries Rica Rica sauce I would be set.

I have a recipe for great Rica Rica Sauce, ala Tea House Noodles.

good on everything.

Maybe I can get Chef Geoff to try it and write it.

Got the owner's husband sitting in the office with me right now. Dave Perry, husband of Ben, who ran for mayor of North Royalton, and often comes to the office is here, talking about it.

He just came limping having fallen on a boat in the Hong Kong harbor.

More to follow.

Chef Geoff joins with others at the FREE Saturday 2:00pm cooking class at Thai Mart.

Good fun, and good food to sample afterwards.

Full story, next issue.
