question for DL, Jim, editor, whomever...

Post by Joe Ott »

Can somebody tell me how the LO photo blogs are used by the paper?

When people upload pictures, do the editors know the pictures are there to use if needed for a particular story? How do they know? Or don't they?

Is the editor able to search meta data and\or key words from a table that is populated when a member adds photos to the blogs (or adds a story) based on the 'PhotoBlog Title', 'Description', 'Photo Captions', or upload date? Or, do the editors, or whoever, have to be told they are there and available?

Can members and non members search this data?
Can they also search keywords in past issues of the paper? Search for a particular topic?

Just wondering.

1) Generally yes. Not to give too much away. when laying out the paper all photo galleries are visible. this does not mean, they are not missed, or there is room in the printed article. Last paper for example was finished by me at 3:00am. Guess which captions are mine?

2) Yes, always good to tell the writer, or editor, as it can be added.

3-5) Yes through the search feature on the front page. But only if the photographer writes captions and keywords. Many do not.
