Flash walks around and checks it out.

In less than 30 minutes it was getting crowded.

Great Idea in theory.. not so great in execution. Mayhem. Utter mayhem. I spent 15-20 minutes trolling for parking and then only 5 in the actual pool... with my lab who loves to swim!
I took my four year old daughter and I was so afraid to let go of her because of the amount of people and dogs around the pool that I thought she was going to get pushed in. Then, my dog was just TOO distracted by all of the other dogs that she abandoned her dummy. Some guy picked it up from the shallow area I could reach it and threw it into the deep end.
And then the poop. There was a lot of dog poo IN the pool, breaking apart. It just totally grossed me out.
HOWEVER, it showed me, if anything how many dogs there are in LAKEWOOD... and why aren't all these dogs allowed in the parks????

We have a dog that hated water, but after working with her, she now cries if she can't swim in the lake. It's an unexpected, hilarious and pathetic behavior.Missy Limkemann wrote:those are great photos. OMG I love them. Too bad all of my dogs are afraid of water. LOL. (nice English Lab I got there...hates water....)
We started working with her by dropping a most beautiful stick in the water where she would have to get her feet wet. Lather, rinse, repeat until she was ready to have the stick dropped a little further out... We worked with her over a period of days, a little at a time.
Eventually we had to switch to a ball because the stick was too flat for her to see.
She won't jump off a dock yet, but that's okay. Maybe next year!

right now I just took in 2 german shorthaired/lab puppies, and they seem to like water. I keep saying "one day my dock diving dog is going to come to me" maybe these guys will end up being the ones that will swim. i might have to find an old kiddie pool somewhere and see what would happen. hmmm........

It was way too crowded. It was my first and last time, but I'm still glad I went or I would still wish I would've went.
My dog pooped in the water! I'M SORRY!! I was so embarrassed. I cleaned up as much as I could, which is more than I could say for the owner of the other dog I saw pooping in the water.
