After over 12 months of negotiations, the Lakewood AFSCME Local 1043 Administrative Chapter has reached an agreement with the City of Lakewood for a two-year contract for the period 2008-2009. This contract calls for a 0% wage increase for 2008 and a 2.5% wage increase in 2009. The contract also requires a phased-in change to their medical insurance plan from 100% coverage to a 90/10 plan. The contract will be presented to Lakewood City Council on Monday, August 25, 2008 at their special council meeting.
“I want to thank the AFSCME Administrative Chapter for working with us to reach an agreement during these difficult times,†stated Mayor Ed FitzGerald. “The willingness of the union to make sacrifices and approve this contract will help avoid future cuts in service and employees.â€
