Red {an orchestra} special offer for Lakewood Observers!

Post by John Farina »

Hello Observers! As a special treat and a chance to introduce you to the work of Red, I'd like to offer my fellow Observers a 2-for-1 ticket deal. If you'd like to attend our next concert, simply call the Red Box Office and mention the Lakewood Observer to receive two General Admission tickets for the price of one! That's $15.00 for two seats to a wonderful concert! If you'd like reserved seating, we are offering a $10.00 discount on all reserved seats (normally $35 - $65).

We are also hosting a special showing of 'Vertigo' at Shaker Square Cinemas along with a talkback with our Artistic Director Jonathan Sheffer and a short performance by a Red quartet.

Concert and film details are below. I look forward to seeing you!

(And yes, we are looking into playing in Lakewood next season.)

Cheers!
John

Red's sixth season comes to an exciting conclusion with a concert featuring the music of film composer Bernard Herrmann, whose scores for classic films of Alfred Hitchcock--Vertigo, North By Northwest and Psycho--are unmatched in their distinctive style. His style as a film composer, keen psychological atmospheres made with simple means, was formed in his concert music. His early pieces in the manner of his idol, Arnold Schoenberg, matured as he worked in radio and then Hollywood, his ambition remaining high, even as his film music eclipsed all other efforts. In this unique program, film clips featuring Herrmann's Hollywood music mingle with a suite from Psycho, and work from his time in the 1930s at CBS Radio. The highlight of the program is a group of excerpts from his rarely produced opera, Wuthering Heights, perhaps the greatest unknown opera in the history of American music.

This concert is proudly presented with the support of Cuyahoga Arts and Culture, The National Endowment for the Arts, Margaret Wong & Associates, National City Bank, Forest City Enterprises, Twist Creative, The Ohio Arts Council, The Cleveland Foundation, The George Gund Foundation, The Kulas Foundation, CoolCleveland.com, Northern Ohio Live, The Free Times, WCLV, 90.3 WCPN ideastream, WKSU, WNWV and Yamaha.
