4 hours in Lakewood on a Saturday.

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

Was doing some photo work yesterday and found an interesting 4 hours. Not typical, but interesting in a small town way.

Stand off 10.21.07, Nothing to see here. The mayor, tells media that is was a disagreement between a distraught young man and his girlfriend. He was threatening to kill himself, when SWAT entered, no weapon was found.

Beautiful afternoon backyard party in Lakewood, for Brigid Simon, Lakewood's latest star athlete. Just returned from China, where she represented the USA and Lakewood in the Special Olympics, and medaled!

Kevin Kelly plays the bag pipes at the entrance to Lakewood Hospital's 100th Anniversary. Another reason i love Lakewood, Kevin works for the city in the building department. I deal with that department often, and see Kevin. I just left his wife, Susan at the Brigid Simon welcome home party. Active engaged people having fun.

On a beautiful Sunday afternoon,
Image

What a wonderful event this is - kids painting Halloween scenes in windows of local businesses.

Image

Thank you to Roman Fountain for opening your business and your window to our family. As you can see in the pictures, our daughter truly enjoyed exploring her artistic side.

Image

As we watched and helped Macey do her thing, people in cars and walking by stopped to comment, offer encouragement, and give her the thumbs up. Some chatted about the Tribe and tonight's game. Just neighborhood folks enjoying a beautiful Fall afternoon.

Image

Then, off to Dairy Queen for a well deserved ice cream treat - where we saw several other kids fresh off their painting excursion. It's a great community that pulls together the families and the businesses. Thanks also to the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce for putting it together.

I can't wait to see all of the windows next weekend!
