Radon

Post by Jim DeVito »

The wife and I are in the process of buying a house. We were all set to close on the 26th of October. Home inspection went good. Then we had the Radon guy come in and set up his test for 36 hours. Boy what a shocker. The house is a hot zone for Radon gas. 33 pico liters. The EPA says a max of 4 pico liters is allowable. Radon is a know cause of lung cancer. Radon mitigation systems for such high levels can run into the thousands of dollars. Yes after this test has been done the reality has to disclose the results to future potential buyers. Not trying to scare anyone just trying to inform. North east Ohio is what the EPA considers a “red zoneâ€Â￾ (high potential) for Radon Gas. The test cost about $145.00. I think there may be something offered buy the county for free Radon testing, more on that later. (and no I do not work for the Coalition of Creepy Radon Testing Guys)

Take Care All.
