Kucinich steals idea from the Observer!!!!

Post by Lynn Farris »

Denis Kucinich "opined that eighteen-year-olds should be allowed to drink legally, and that sixteen-year-olds should be allowed to vote. "

In the 3rd issue of the Observer - an article adressed the issue that 16 year olds be allowed to vote.
But the problems of ageism are more even more important than the overt discrimination discussed. Children’s
concerns are not represented very well, in politics, because they have been disenfranchised until age 18 in the right to vote. The biggest discrimination
that youth faces is the fact that they are not able to vote. This says that their voice doesn’t matter. The National Youth Rights Association, NRYA, is trying to change this discrimination. They have a campaign to lower the voting
age to 16.
See page 18 Fighting for the disenfranchised. http://lakewoodobserver.com/pdfs/Observ ... e%2003.pdf

I really don't know if he reads the observer - but this is kind of cool. :)

The Kucinichs, read the paper so does the entire office here and in Washington. They have asked for 50 papers to be dropped off each issue. Dennis can tell you better what is them than I.

Joe Benny, Congressman Kucinich media person, has been very helpful at getting the paper into other media offices around the state. Joe might be remembered for being one of the news directors at Channel 5 in the past.

Finally, Elizabeth was helping and getting ready to write for our health and wellness column, when Congressman Kucinich announced the run for presidency. From that point on they have been pretty busy.

Not sure it was from the LO, but he does read cover to cover.

Maybe we can get Ken Warren to talk about his experience with some people who live and work in Phoenix that also read the Observer, cover to cover from the pdfs and what they think of Lakewood when they came in yesterday.
