I got some great romaine lettuce and the strawberries and plants looked wonderful.

We went at 2:30 and all we saw was one van and some remants of plants. I thought it was open until 3.

I was there at 11:00 when they opened..maybe they sold out. Look at the pictures. If they sold out that's great. I hope they just did not have enough traffic and went home.

Great pictures, Rhonda. Glad to see the farmer's market continues.

I hope to see us move this to weekends during good weather so more people can enjoy this. Lakewood is the perfect walking community, so it'd be great to have an open air market at our town center on pedestrian plaza surrounded by cafe's, a natural gathering place for strollers, cyclists, newspaper readers, babies in carriages, errand-runners, and kibbitzing retirees.

Having a destination district would also help local businesses. The best day of the year for downtown businesses is the Arts Festival.

LEAF is taking the first step towards evening hours that accommodate more people's schedules; perhaps we can build towards an expanded market presence.

And while you're there, take a moment to walk by the Library addition at Mars and Detroit and get a good look at this wonderful addition to the Lakewood streetscape!!

11-3 on a Wednesday is pretty useless for people who work during the day. How about having in the evening like some other cities.

Our neighbors in West Park have a farmers market on Sundays from 10a-2p through mid October. The market is located at W 168th and Lorain in the parking lot behind Walgreen's.

Every week they have live music and cooking demos and this Sunday they will have Horse Drawn Wagon Rides.

Lakewood should not be playing second fiddle to West Park, Crocker Park, or Shaker Square. We are a better market for farmers markets than any of these.

We ask for time on a Saturday and Sunday morning, but they say, "We're busy." It's bewildering that we take "no" for an answer from a supplier who tells us "we're busy" when we're saying we want to buy from them. Isn't this the land capitalism, where the customer is always right?

Rather than accepting the second-tier slot, let's get something better. LEAF is pointing the way, making a market day during evenings when the farmers coop doesn't have time for Lakewood... But weekend mornings are still prime time.

Let's not play second fiddle. Lakewood IS prime time.
