Suggestion for Parent(s) with Toddlers- Get Togethers

Post by Mark Crnolatas »

We live on a street lacking in kids for our toddler to make social contact with.
Is anyone interested in getting a group together, and maybe meeting every so often, so that the little ones can sit in a bunch, and interact?

With so many people in the Wood, we can't be the only ones without any other small ones nearby, or are we?

Mark,
I don't know if you tried the Family Room yet behind St. James Church. The city provides a group for parents and infants through toddlers every morning of the week, and I think they added a Saturday for working parents. Some days are open like Tues and Thurs morning, and some days are Special Ed. needs children and alternative parenting, etc. They also have two afternoons, Tues and Thurs. where the setting is themed and with stations for interaction with your child educationally. The other mornings are pure socialization for parents and tots. And when I went, they had a number of dads there! This service is one of the best assets in Lakewood. When you are home with small children, that interaction is a lifesaver, and great for the children too! The women who run it, Toni and Gail are as warm as you can get!

I can't remember ever going to Bela Dubby and not seeing some toddlers in there. They have lots of toys and things to keep kids occupied, and adults have a great time hanging out.

The Lakewood Early Childhood PTA is a great option to look into. My wife has been actively involved for years with our kids. They have play groups (what you were looking for) and lots of tours and outings for you to get involved with. You can get more information on their website, www.lkwdpl.org/ECPTA . Let me know if you want any more information...
