Library Gala June 23rd
Plans for the Lakewood Library's Gala, "Be the First to See the Best" are going forward, full steam. Keep up to date on this event at :
http://bethefirsttoseethebest.com/index.html
As a co-chair of the silent auction committee, we have been soliciting donations from area businesses and individuals. We've been fortunate to receive some great items, from Ohio Buckeye football tickets, to the Cleveland Orchestra; from condo usage in Florida to skiing opportunities in New York. Lots of great dining items! People and businesses have been very responsive.
But, to make this a real success, and provide needed funds for public art at the Library, we could sure use some more auction items!
Do you have a donation? Better yet, do you have a contact who would make a donation if you gave them a call? Many times we can't help personally, but we forget that our (fill-in-the-blank) is the manager of (fill-in-the-blank) and that if you asked, they'd be more than happy to support this great institution.
We're on the web:

if you have questions. Or call any of the chairs.
Thanks Observers!

Ah yes....with the completion of Phase 2, we will, indeed, break on through to the other side! And what a side it will be. Just as the Grand Reading Room, new auditorium and gallery spaces will knock your socks off from phase 1, just wait until the wall comes tumblin' down to expose the Grand Stairs, the greatly enhanced and expanded computer center and a world-class children's area.
I know that over the next months it's going to be a bit cramped, service a bit curtailed, as we move operations into the addition. It's a necessary short term sacrifice for a project that will make Lakewoodites proud for generations to come.
