Happy Anniversary!
Firat I would like all of you to join us, The Lakewood Motoring society, The Choppers, our advertisers and other in marching in the 4th of July parade with the Lakewood Observers. Webb and Edgewater Tuesday at 9:30am. We will be having picnic all afternoon for anyone wanting to stay or leave and come back. This is some Americana you have toi ne part of. Surreal does not do it justice! Celebrate the 4th by celebrating civic journalism and Fredom of the Press!
Our Anniversary Issue is now online. If you have every taken part in the paper or website you are going to want one of these issues. It features every name of everyone that has taken part in this grand project. If you work on the paper or joined the board you get mentioned and thanked. If you are a writer, photographer, illustrator, or editor you are mentioned and thanked. If you ever advertised in the Observer you are called out and thanked.

There is a life size full color copy of the Resolution presented to 50 Lakewood Observer members that showed up at City Hall last week. This was given to all the volunteers at the Lakewood Observer in a show of appreciation. And a special thank you note from Congressman Dennis Kucinich. Very cool. As Mayor Tom George describe with a smile to me the next day, "Jimmy that was a real KumBayYah moment last night." And he is right it was for me, the 50+ members, the advisors, and even people in the crowd. Much love, much appreciation, much hard work applauded.
Also there was a generous ad from Lakewood Hospital thanking everyone, which they nicely allowed us to bump back to the next issue.
I would like to once again thank everyone reading this note. It has been an incredible year for all of us. I can sure you none of us ever thought it would be like this, or that we could accomplish so much. What started off a little website and newspaper has turned into what many are calling the economic revitalization tool of the future for all cities! What I find even more exciting is what we are working on bringing to this project in the next twelve months. I think it will be just as cutting edge.
If I could ask one favor in this next year is draft a friend or neighbor and get them to sign up and take part in the board and/or the paper. Now that we have found out who the players are let's find the next ring. The more people we can get at the discussion table we call the Lakewood Observer, the better it is for all of us. After all it is our town, we are all in it together.
Thanks again, take a second pat yourself on the back you all made history.
peace
