Howdy!
Anyone get the buzz on what happened to the Scrapbook store on Madison? I have some friends in the know and even they haven't heard the story. I thought that was one of the better success stories in Lakewood. Here was a store with a unique audience that pulled in scrapbook folks from all over the West Side. It was not only successful but grew to inhabit additional storefront. My wife and others that are into it enjoyed it a lot.
So did they bite off more than they could chew? Sad to see it go.

Laurie Rhodes used to run "Preserving Tomorrow's Memories" i9f the name sounds familiar it is because her daughter Emmie is our acting Editor.
From what I have heard is that everything was going really good until Walmart increased their scrapbooking section. Then the market started to fall apart.

Thanks for your interest in what is happening with my store, Preserving Tomorrow's Memories. I do not feel that I bit off more than I could chew. My lease was coming up for renewal and it was a time to evaluate the business. I made a very difficult but necessary business decision to close.
Jim's reply about Walmart was one of many factors I had to consider. The store had a great run and I'm proud of what I accomplished.
I would encourage all of you to support your local businesses whenever possible. These people are your neighbors that want to live and work in this great town. These are the people that support local schools and other non-profit fundraisers. These are the people that get to know their customers.
My customers came from all over northeastern Ohio. One of the saddest comments I heard during the past six weeks was, "I have no reason to come to Lakewood anymore".
The store will close at 5pm Sat. June 17th. All merchandise is 90% off. I still have fixtures available if anyone knows a store owner looking for something.
