Breaking news...

East End Rocks!

According to a proposal going through Architectural Review Board, the Rockport development will be expanding outside its original footprint.

Looks like Rysar will be constructing a new building on the Doc Heben's site and someone will be refurbishing the Bishoff Building.

Looks like more positive changes to the east end of Lakewood.

More to follow...

You read it on the Observation Deck first!

This is excellent news! Is Rockport a draw, yet? I thought they have only sold one condo? Have shops opened yet? What are they? Who cares... the more the merrier!

I took a walk through Rockport last week.

From what I observed, one unit was occupied, one had a SOLD sign, and another had a Reserved sign. A fourth unit must have been sold as a party was moving belongings in as I watched.

So, at least 4 units are accounted for. These are all on Detroit, not the next group being built on Hopkins, is it? (The street with the nice Firehouse.)

Oooh... I am so sad that the Firehouse is being relegated to an office and demo unit. It is such a cool property. Great Lakes Theater Festival had used the space as their costume shop until very recently. As my wife works there I had a chance to walk through it before they sold it, to the developers I assume. It was such a lovely space. I wished they had done something more with it other than gut it for office space. I would have killed to own the space and make it a home. It was sooo cool.

I think the two units with the 'Reserved' signs are not reserved by buyers, but reserved for the purpose of showings (model units).
Has anyone heard of how sales have been going...level of interest...? Have a lot of people been touring the homes? Is interest below expectations...as expected?
I'm interested to see how much demand there actually is for housing in Lakewood with modern floor plans and amenities.
The response thus far seems to be underwhelming.

You weren't the only one who had those thoughts!

You should go back and see it. It looks more "restored" than "gutted."

It's beautiful!
