The West Shore Chorale and Orchestra Presents 15th Annual “Carols and Choruses of Christmasâ€Â￾

The West Shore Chorale and Orchestra is proud to present its annual “Carols and Choruses of Christmasâ€Â￾ Concert, at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday December 4. “The Chorale has always thought of Lakewood as its home,â€Â￾ says Conductor John Drotleff. Indeed, the Chorale was founded in 1968 by a group of three Lakewood Residents including former Lakewood Mayor, Robert Lawther. The Chorale’s first conductor, Lakewood resident B. Neil Davis, was the Fine Arts Department Chair at Lakewood High School for 25 years. And Drotleff, also a Lakewood resident, held that position for seven years. The group spent their first years rehearsing at the Lakewood Civic Auditorium then moved to Lakewood High School. Although parking constraints recently prompted the eighty-five voice group to move their rehearsals into Rocky River, they still sees themselves as a Lakewood based organization. “Anyone who knows us, knows that Lakewood is where our roots are,â€Â￾ says Drotleff. “We even keep our mailing address here.â€Â￾

The Chorale’s Christmas Concert will feature traditional carols and audience sing-a-longs, as well as a variety of classical pieces. “Carols and Chorusesâ€Â￾ has become a fifteen year old community tradition of enjoying great music, and socializing over homemade Christmas treats at the post-concert reception. This year, the Chorale is particularly excited to welcome to the stage, the enchanting music of the Fuller Sounds Bell Choir with Conductor Carmen Massaro. These special guest artists from Rocky River Methodist Church bring a unique Christmas magic to the Chorale’s lovely seasonal offerings. “Carols and Choruses of Christmasâ€Â￾ is held at Magnificat Center for the Performing Arts, 20770 Hilliard Blvd., Rocky River. Tickets are $15. For more information call 216-556-4368 or visit www.westshorechorale.org.
