On our walk this morning we ran across Lakewood's newest leaf collector. It only takes two guys and seems to be very efficient.
I think they only have one and it is only two weeks old.
Watch for it!
You can see pictures of it ....just hit the photogallery box on the top right hand side of the opening of the website and you can see this new machine in actions.

Rhonda--- Great catch!
This looks suspiciously like a step towards government efficiency. I thought the old method, you know the invasion of Iraq one where the whole street was closed off and heavy machinery and a dozen workers were brought in?!
Those bulldozers were the perfect machine for picking up leaves-- just like eating peas with a knife.
If we keep pursuing efficiency like this where will it all end?

What a sight!
Thanks guys, it was quite a sight seeing this thing this morning. Maybe this could be the beginning of new efficiency in government!
(Actually...Bill Davis spotted it first! He was truly amazed and so was I!)

This is a perfect example of one kind of citizen journalism. One phone call activated a photographer who could share images of a new wrinkle in city services with anyone with a computer within (I daresay) an hour.
That's pretty darned cool.
Good for the city for looking for a smarter way to collect our leaves.
