In another thread Joe and Jean point out that RTA should be able to drive three buses in a row down our side streets. As proof they point out that RTA ridership is up, though no numbers are available for Lakewood.
So how much does RTA owe us for mining our streets for fares?
Is it time to look at reviving the Lakewood Bus lines?
How much of a percentage of the action could we impose on RTA before they decide Lakewood is not worth the partnership.
As we break from RITA do we also look at breaking from other regional groups?

You are correct. I thought you had mentioned that you thought with the new circulators and rider ship was up.
You only mentioned that you need to ride RTA, but never hinted at the success of the new Circulators.
It was Jean that mentioned ridership was up which started me thinking, where is our cut.

Green electric vehicles underwritten in part with help from retailers. Nice comfortable vans that take a person directly to the door. From door to Phoenix that brings the coffee to the vehicle accepting Lakewood Grinders. The Lakewood Community Carriers then the move few that must leave to regional pick-up points.
The Green Vehicles if Hybrids take occasional trips to Regional Pick Up points. This allows their batteries to recharge and become SUPER efficient. As most hybrids use electricity only at speeds under 30.
We generate jobs, quiet, better easier shopping for Lakewood storefront businesses and bars.
A project like this makes a community ready for a non petro-chemical based world.

And we aren't even talking taking your kids to & from school. I think we could save bundles and help the environment with RTA circulators helping parents out with bus lines. In cold weather it is a decent walk from either the far west or far east side of the city to LHS. And Emerson was the only Jr. High offering some special programs wihch is a long walk from the West side.
Maybe there is a good bus route and convienent times. If so, it wasn't well advertised and my daughter never caught on to it. Of course she was swimming waaay early and waay late - so we really didn't want her walking in the dark.

Not a problem; for the record I don't believe I ever talked about busses using side streets either. I did ask where these new stops were located. The only time RTA should be using side streets is if there is construction, storm damage, or an accident blocking the normal routes. The 86 had to do this last year with construction on Warren; the 55 had to do it this year with construction on West Clifton.
