Mark Utrata is The Lakewood Observer's newest member! # 250!
Although Mark's official number is 253, he is the 250th person willing to sign on to Lakewood's ONLY Open Source Forum.
When the Lakewood Observer was launched the, Advisory Board asked for only one rule; Only people willing to use their real names would be allowed to talk about the issues that confront Lakewood, a city in transition. While other boards allow users to use a fake name or NAMES. The Lakewood Observer Advisory Board knew, this was not the best way to handle serious discussions amongst adults that care about the community. Other Board owners in the city said, "You will never find enough people to agree and join. Lakewoodites NEED to hide behind fake names so that they can talk without fear of reprisals."
I am happy he did not understand Lakewood like The Observers did. Today we have 90% of the School Board and City Council on board and the Mayor. The Observation Deck boats leaders from every level of education, PTA, Historical Society, and Churches. We have approached a time to wonder why some haven't signed on?
The Lakewood Observer, you the members, have brought Community Leaders together with residents and Lakewood Businesses working as one to move this city ahead. Lakewood Businesses putting their muscle (advertising dollars) where Lakewood's mouth is. Ensuring ALL residents have a space for their ideas and conversations, while working together to tackle the tough issues of the day. Neighbors proud to own what they think and say, taking a huge step forward to make Lakewood better.
Now if we all go out and recruit one new member, just one, we are at 500! Or one percent of Lakewood. A mythical number that will allow us to really observe the pulse of the city. Ask your friends, neighbors, spouse or people on the street to join in Lakewood's discussion and finest Website. Belly up to the bar, and share and amplify ideas, thoughts and observations. Making Lakewood, the city that knows itself better than any city ever has. Some have called it the wildest, most innovative experiment in the country. I prefer to think of it as neighbors talking a community.
For Mark's bravery! He will receive a FREE Haircut at the Regal Beagle, a full selection of Lakewood Observer Swag, and dinner for two at our next party.(To be announced)
Now if we could just get Mark to re-open the family's old Pizza Shop!
