Sunday morning I learned that Dave Wright passed away in his sleep.
Dave was a great Lakewoodite, that owned and operated Wright Construction with his wife and son.
Dave was very active in Lakewood politics, even running for mayor over a decade ago. He had served on many committees and was recently very involved in Lakewood Alive, as a sponsor and member of the steering committee.
Our deepest sympathies go to the family, friends and coworkers.
Details are just coming in, more will be posted as we find out.
But we have lost a good neighbor and friend.

Dave was a "salt of the earth" kind of guy. He grew up in Lakewood and was very involved in the city. He had passion for politics, his business, his family, and his friends.
Dave also had a terrific sense of humor and was a prolific storyteller. Many times he had funny pun or quip intertwined with his stories.
To his chagrin, his kids loved telling this story; Dave loved old airplanes. So much so, his children decided to buy him a ticket on an old training plane. This was a once-in-lifetime flight. After about 15 minutes of doing air stunts the pilot landed. Dave exited the plane a looking a few shades of cucumber green and fuchsia, but had the time of his life.
On the Planning Commission, he was constantly interjecting his unique brand of humor.
His volunteer service and insight will be missed. It's difficult to believe he is no longer with us.
