I've tried to compile a list of all the City Hall lies about the hospital.
So much information has been uncovered since January that it's hard to keep track.
Here are some of the ones I remember off the top of my head:
December 2014: LHA member Mary Louise Madigan claims hospital closing "a rumor"
January 2015: CCF and Mayor announce plan to close hospital
June 2015: After months of denials that there were plans to build a Rec Center on the hospital site, documents are discovered that reveal detailed plans for the center. viewtopic.php?t=13543
July 2015: Build Lakewood's first lit piece claims to "Build a New Lakewood Hospital". In fact, the structure they tout did not meet the definition of a hospital.
Please help me out by adding to this list. There are plenty....the denials about Metro, overstatement of losses, etc.

Re: List of City Hall Lies About the Hospital
The most egregious lie, one that they keep repeating, is that no one else is interested in running a hospital here.
LIE!
MetroHealth made a proposal that would have not only retained an inpatient facility, but would have INCREASED SERVICES AND EMPLOYMENT.
See the proposal here:
http://media.lakewoodobserver.com/media/docs_1435798465.pdf
They would invest over $100,000,000 in capital improvements and medical technology!
Yet our mayor thinks a minute clinic with 150 employees is preferable to a fully functioning hospital run by organization that wants to be here, will invest in the community, and provide service to all!
What city do you know that would turn that down? That would turn away those jobs and money?

Re: List of City Hall Lies About the Hospital
Here are 10 that jut came off the top of my head. All by Summers:
1. He said hospital would not close the month before he announced it would close.
2. He said in Campaign literature “we WILL have new ER" the same week he said to PD it I not a done deal.
3. He said the LOI was about healthcare –it is about money and real estate development
4. Feb 3, 2015 “Keeping the hospital open is not an option.” Huron and Metro said it can be made viable.
5. He said he had duty to write the letter to CCF "protesting" their violation of the agreement, but he said has no duty to actually enforce the agreement. Something about "two hats" that he wears.
6. He said he was not aware of second metro proposal—however, he attended to the second proposal live presentation –he told members of City Council that the live presentation was just a promotional piece promoting Metro and was not a proposal----the second proposal was forced to become public by repeated public records requests but only months after Metro backed out of renewed interest due to what Metro called a maelstrom in Lakewood.
7. On January 28, 2015 at the Beck Center, he said the Metro proposal “just went away.” Facts later came to light that he ignored it because he did not want “those people” in his City. He also repeatedly mischaracterized the proposal and his latest statement on video on October 1, 2015 he said the problem with the proposal was that he would lose control of land and the LHA trustees would lose control of the money. So we could have had a hospital.
8. He said there was no plan for a Recreation Center, but then after detailed plans and drawings of it were obtained per subpoena, he admitted in a Lakewood Observer article that he was still discussing the plans with CCF.
9. He said that SLH has no Plan---he has no Plan.
10. He said LHA was losing money for years, but financial statements revealed otherwise–it has lost money as a result of his illegal premature announcement of closing it.

Re: List of City Hall Lies About the Hospital
Problem: Cleveland Clinic wants out of Lakewood. Wants to move to greener $$$ pastures, and doesn't want to invest more money into Lakewood.
For the moment, forget they have a lease and made promises they didn't keep.
What to do, what to do?
MetroHealth makes a proposal. We'll come to Lakewood, upgrade and run your hospital. We will even increase services and invest $100,000,000. We'll have a hospital and all the economic benefits it provides.
What would YOU do?
Why are we even having this argument? Who in their right mind would ignore Metro's offer?
Something is seriously wrong here when, even if you believe the "hospital is losing money" mantra, that the solution is right there and it's being ignored. Let CC go and move on to the new future of healthcare in Lakewood - with MetroHealth!
Why are our leaders willing to settle for so much less?

Re: List of City Hall Lies About the Hospital
No one can answer this. WHY WAS METRO IGNORED?
WHO decided that we did not need a hospital?
The "market forces" argument is BOGUS. Metro wanted to run a full service hospital here.
All of the arguments for accepting CC's "offer" of a medical referral center are nothing but a CHARADE.
We CAN have an in patient hospital here but our Mayor and the Cleveland Clinic decided for us - NO hospital for Lakewood.
Why are the Build Lakewood followers so willing to believe the lies?
