The Active Living and Recreation Task Force meeting minutes from February 3, 2015 reveal that Mayor Summers actively violated his fiduciary duties to LHA. As you may recall, this was the meeting where Summers unrolled a map of the Hospital site with much green space and said "THINK BIG" according to a task force member.

The minutes quote Summers as saying:

1. "Keeping the hospital open is just not an option." This was not and is not true and it is a statement made contrary to his sworn duties to LHA--a public charity with the legal duty to keep the hospital open. So instead of working a solutions to keep he hospital open, Summers was working on dividing up the loot from the looting of the hospital.

2. "There is an opportunity to create something special" says Summers using the $7 million of Jacobs foundation money and $32 million in hospital funds. It is believed that Summers put the $7 million of Jacobs money in a City "land acquisition fund".

So this is another instance of Summers thinking that he is above the law--"The King of Lakewood" spreading money around to causes near and dear to his best friends while essentially stealing from the poor.

So, Mr. Mayor, please do provide us with the details of the "SOMETHING SPECIAL" you have in mind. What "land" do you have in mind to spend our money from Mr. Jacobs on?

Let's see "Hospital Money"+"Hospital Land"+"Recreation Task Force"+"Land Acquisition Money" = Rec Center????

A few weeks back Mr. Mayor you wrote in the LO that there were "ongoing discussions" about the rec center, but your Silly workshop this week made no mention of rec center.

If you have given up on this as "something special" I would think that you could just tell us?

If you haven't given it up, why wasn't it part of the workshop thingy to get our input--assuming that desire for our input is actually genuine?

Silence from the King is echoing throughout Lakewood.

The distrust can only be cured by Summers being removed from office.

You know, there was a Build Lakewood supporter, who prior to all this coming out, posted on the Lakewood Ohio Facebook group gushing about how excited she was about the new rec center that would replace the hospital. All before it was public knowledge of the hospital leaving. Needless to say, she was told by the PTB to delete her post.

I wonder if anyone happened to get a screen shot. Her initials were TK. Anyone else recall this or have an image?

I don't recall the person you are referring to.

I know that Todd Heckler was an advocate for the Rec Center in FB conversations with JOB and me. Unfortunately he deleted and edited his comments so often that I don't have screen shots.
This would probably be late winter/early spring 2015, so I didn't really think much of it at the time.

He stopped talking about the Rec Center by late spring 2015.... before the first "Smoking Gun" was uncovered by Essi.
By October he had moved on to playing "smear games" with the Lakewood Citizen.

City Hall knows that the Rec Center idea is unpopular. Summers ran polling on it, and it did poorly.
If his gang wants to get that Rec Center, they will need to destroy the Lakewood Observer.
As long as the LO is around, they will not be able to cook up a marketing strategy in secret.

BTW, Todd Heckler is a major Observer hater.
In fact, when he got a copy delivered to his porch a few weeks ago, he specifically requested that he not get any more.

TRUTH. They want the Observer GONE.
