As everyone files back into the City from various summer vacations, breaks, retreats, and trips, this week should see a re-invigoration of everything that is being pushed right now.
State Senator Michael Skindell has been called “an opportunistic politician” by his opponent, odd as Skindell is leaving his final 3 years in a seat in which he has served this city, and the state well. He could have had a cushy three years of finishing what he wanted, and now, he jumps into a total mess-- I think the military would use the term FUBAR on this one-- to bring calm, understanding and transparency to a situation he clearly sees as government out of control, and a government being less than honest with its constituents, in one of the biggest potential disasters the citizens of Lakewood have ever had to face.
OR is the opportunistic politician the person who keeps everything secret to spring on the public, weeks before the election, in a landslide of seemingly unconnected events, the one who deliver his friends’ plans for the city, no matter what the city or the facts show to be a better idea?
The list of things that would have been scheduled to conclude weeks before the election were designed to keep voters off their feet, stop them from asking questions, and generally to baffle them with shiny things that mean little, cost way too much, and set up yet another layer of “private foundations” to skim 40% or more off the top of any funding they can dig up, to pay their salaries, travel, lunches, etc. While I will admit, Cleveland’s only industry is applying for grants, Lakewood’s industry has always been good quality middle-income housing.
So in this issue, we have concerned resident Brian Essi looking back and finding more and more proof that the Mayor, City Council President, and Councilman Bullock all being less than honest with the people they have sworn to represent and be truthful with. Brian first pulls back the mirage of “Dedicated to Lakewood’s healthcare future.” Then comes back one more time to answer the Mayor’s article of the last issue, and correct all of the mistruths, misinformation and lies in the Mayor’s article. While it would be so much easier for all to have the Mayor answer questions on the Deck, the Mayor feels the 7,000+ membership of the Observer is not worthy of his time or discussion.
Yeah, what could have been the summer of love has turned more and more into the summer of mistrust, thuggery, confrontation and lies.
Well, Party on folks, the election is months away, January 15th 2016 even farther. As more and more facts hit the streets, and the residents get more and more sick and tired of the bullshit from City Hall, City Hall will get desperate, and they will get nasty, they will bend the truth, and they will try to get it done any way they can, but the correct and honest way. Lakewood Schools’ Civics teachers, get ready for a lesson on government and the Constitution.
From the paper’s eyebrow this issue….
