Why I Love Lakewood Hospital
The docs and nurses at Lakewood Hospital are absolutely terrific. They love what they do, and they really care about each patient. The Hospital is only 5 minutes from our home, so we can get there quickly. About a year ago, my husband woke up very sick, and I bundled him up and took him to Lakewood ER. He was indeed very sick, about 5 different issues. At that moment he was the only one in the ER, so he had everyone's concentrated attention. They quickly stabilized him, identified and addressed each issue, monitored him, kept up the medical therapies throughout the day, and finally could get him into a room late that night. It took a few days to clear everything up, but he recovered fully. (By the way, the Hospital was full, it took awhile for them to find a bed for him.)

Re: Why I Love Lakewood Hospital
I have also had great experiences with the hospital.
My father suffered from diabetes and heart disease, and was treated at Lakewood on multiple occasions until his death in 1995.
The doctors and nurses were great.
In 2008, I utilized the Geriatric Assessment Center when my mother began suffering from dementia.
The doctors and staff worked with us to help establish a guardianship at the Probate Court.
The facility's nearby location enabled me to get mom to and from the appointments with minimal fuss. Had we needed to go to Avon, she likely would have resisted.
I've used the hospital myself on few occasions, most recently to have an asthma test last fall. The staff and convenience were great.
Even more important than my medical experiences is the economic impact the hospital has had on Lakewood.
A PROPERLY RUN hospital provides lots of spin-off business....nearby doctors' offices, labs, medical supply stores, and restaurants.
When I was a kid in the 1970s, my mom's PCP was in downtown Lakewood. We lived in Cleveland at the time, but that office brought us to Lakewood on a regular basis. Those visits put dollars into the Lakewood economy.
