Social media has been buzzing about planned demonstrations this Saturday at Impett Park.
Impett Park is located a couple blocks south of Lakewood on W. 159th (or as we call it Carabel Ave.)
It's a very popular spot for many of us in the southern part of Wards 1 and 2.
Hopefully things will settle down, but there is a lot of ugliness out there.
This Scene article has many of the details.

Keep Calm and Carry On. Actually this title is a little inflammatory.

Re: Race Riot Coming to our Doorstep?
Beware of the media. I've been interviewed by media and told to embellish my responses to make a situation more frightening and I've been part of the media (NYC press corps) when asked/directed by my partner reporter to shoot/photograph certain things that would make the headlines more exciting/entertaining.
Most papers tend to work that way. Just the term "riot" rather than "gathering" can incite these very responses that feed the fears and ignorant biases of the populace to create tumultuous situations from minor events.
