Springtime For Mayor Summers In Lakewood?

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

As the hospital debacle unrolls day after day with more and more of a production worthy
of a movie script, I started to think of all of the various groups that have called me with
amazing offers of help, projects, and beautiful futures if they fall in line with the hospital
and Rec Center err Wellne$$ Center plan.

It has taken on such far-reaching proportions that there is probably not one non-profit that
doesn't have something coming to them; they would be foolish to not support it. Well it
reminded me of another great script, "The Producers."

From Wikipedia...
"The Producers" is a 1968 American satirical dark comedy film written and directed by Mel Brooks. The film is set in the late 1960s and it tells the story of a theatrical producer and an accountant who want to produce a sure-fire Broadway flop. They take more money from investors than they can repay (the shares they've sold total more than 100% of any profits) and plan to abscond to Brazil as soon as the play closes."

Can the Mayor and "yet-to-be-named non-profit"  really afford to pay off all of those falling in line with Wellne$$?

If it's such a good deal for Lakewood...?

Excellent!

Did the Mayor oversubscribe his production of " insert your idea here"?

How about "How to Kill a Hospital For Fun and Profit" ?

How about a contest?

The Letter Of Intent is very vague about the disposition of the $55 million in Lakewood Hospital investments. Some of the money would have to be used to demolish the Hospital, office buildings, parking garage and homes owned by the Hospital. Who would own the balance and what would it be used for?

A reasonable question. So far we don't have any answers. That should trouble even those who support this deal.

The money for the Lakewood Hospital Foundation would be transferred to a new foundation under the control of the Cleveland Clinic. Its purpose would be to support health and wellness throughout Northeast Ohio. In other words a slush fund for the politically well connected.

Is it really about the nearly $90 million in cash and investments?

You guys are intelligent and funny, but this is no laughing matter.

I've heard that Mayor Summers and some folks aligned with him, would like to use the new foundation money to build The Lakewood Recreation Center. If they don't achieve their goal of controlling the board of the new foundation, we may end up with no hospital and no recreation center.

All we will with have is a "transfer station" where patients are processed. Those that are sick enough and/or have the right insurance will de "transported" to the other Clinic facilities (if they don't die on the way). On April 30, 2015, Dr. Brian Donley mentioned that it would be an "enhanced facility."

Exactly what are the plans for how the balance of the land will be used?

From May 2015!!!!

So much of the money "promised" to Historical Society, Schools, every charity and group possible getting promises of untold riches.

Well, they are $4 million under what they hoped, and just took another $2 million to pay bills. Which means another $2-$3 million this year.

And we have the final act of "The Producers"

We have all been played.

We have been played, but, some of us are diligently working hard behind the scenes gaining information and proof pertaining to all the alleged wrong doings by Lord Lakewood and his Squires. We are working hard on the alleged money laundering and the hospital. Hmmm.
