St. Edward Names New Football Coach

Post by Michael Deneen »

I'm late posting this, but here is the news release from St. Edward:

St. Edward High School announced today that Tom Lombardo has been named the school's next head football coach. Lombardo, a member of the St. Edward faculty and football staff from 2003-2007, returns to the school after eight very successful years at Medina's Highland High School.

As Highland's head coach, Lombardo compiled a record of 61-29, the most wins of any coach in Highland's history. He led Highland to the Division II State Semifinals in 2013 and was named the Division II AP Coach of the Year. In 2001, he won the Division III State Championship as the head coach at Lake Catholic High School.

"I am so excited to return to St. Edward High School," said Lombardo. "St. Edward football has evolved into one of the nation's top programs, and I am looking forward to building on that incredible tradition and leading our hard-working young men to continued success."

St. Edward President Jim Kubacki added, "We are very fortunate to have found such a great fit in Coach Lombardo. His understanding of our mission and community combined with the experience he has had building and leading successful programs ensures that our young men will continue to grow in character and achieve at a high level."
