It would be nice if there were coordinated conversation between this commission and anyone invloved with the new "wellness center" at the corner of Detroit and Belle.

Won't you be my neighbor?"

The Youth Athletic Commission, along with the Adult Athletic Commission, has been meeting for years. City Hall is and has been aware of them, as is the Council appointed group.

Hello Peter,
I have attached a file that contains minutes from the Adult Athletic Commission. Here's an excerpt from the attached minutes: B Curtain advised the commission that the City of Lakewood is soliciting applications for volunteers to serve on a Lakewood Recreation Task Force to study the current state of recreation offerings in the City and make recommendations for the future. The Board of Education has declined to be involved in the Task Force at this time.
Also, according to Jay Foran, Betsy Shaughnessy (school board member) has been a regular attendee at the Active Living Task Force Meetings.
You get the feeling that we should be saying:
But then you realize that we are dealing with grown adults who would never allow petty thinking to get in the way of trying to do the right thing...whatever that may be. But...maybe that's being too optimistic about life...and what they may really need and deserve is a very swift kick in the ass(figuratively speaking) from the public.
Peter, I have attached another document for your information:

Peter,
I had some additional information come my way.
Lakewood Community Recreation and Education Commission,
Minutes for the October 28, 2014 Meeting
Excerpt from the minutes:
Directors Report: Director Curtin provided a handout of the key findings from the Traid Survey. Discussion ensued and then transited into the discussion of the Active Living Task Force interview. We were told that the two and a half hour meeting attended by members of the Task Force and School Representatives was very informative. Members of the CREC in attendance felt that the meeting was very beneficial in educating Task Force members on how the Recreation programs and staff are diligently working to do everything possible to provide the Community a well balance Recreation and Education experience. Questions were many and answers to each question were very thorough. The Task Force is now doing research on comparing Lakewood to other communities. This is very difficult as Lakewood is extremely unique in that there are only one of three Board of Education Systems in the State of Ohio that run their own recreation program. All others are run as divisions of City Government.
There does appear to be communication between the Task Force and School Representatives

Peter,
We missed you at our meeting last night.
I know it is a long drive to and from Akron but I was looking forward to catching up with you and seeing how life is treating you in Akron.
Our next meeting is April 13th. Come on up to the 'Wood and we can go to the Lizard after the meeting.
