Fitz still getting some lakewood support

I saw a Fitz bumper sticker for the first time yesterday!

I also found it interesting that Brian Powers was one of the top 50 donors, out of 1184, to Ed's campaign last month, even after everything came out. He gave $250 to the sinking campaign.

His top donors are still Unions and the Democratic party. 460 people gave $10 or less. It is pretty interesting to read.

Here is a link to see the report.

Maybe everyone gave up too soon, there is still a chance! :)

Ryan

Should I throw my core beliefs out the window because Mr. Law and Order was caught
"talking" to a unnamed woman at 4am? Or because Lakewood City Council and Law
Department never bothered to do the same due diligence on their good buddy that they
helped to get elect as that do anyone else trying to even get appointed tor Mayor or Council?

Hmmmmmmm, driving without a license and talking to an Irish Lass is just not worth
my core beliefs on this one. Maybe Mike and others can throw him out for something I
personally have done myself but not at the times or for the length of time our Mayor did.

To be honest in this one, even if Ed had been caught with an underage sheep in the Holiday Inn
I would still vote for him.

FWIW

I love underage sheep. The turn into amazing lamb chops on the grill.

Val

At least we picked a nice hot day for Hell to freeze over!

I agree with you on salt and lamb chops!

Fitzgerald is a good man and was a good Mayor.

I won't go back and look it all up but:

Total number of City employees went from something like 800 during the Cain years to the current level of 550 or so. Some of the decline started during the George years but the bulk of the decline came during the Fitzgerald term.

Expenditures were about $38 million per year during the George years and declined to about $34 million or so last year.

He left the City on a sound financial footing. Good stewardship by Sumers built on that success.

If Fitzgerald had followed that path at the County level and ran for governor in 2018 he would have won in a walk. (Assuming he got his valid drivers license by then) :(

Instead he signed on to the downtown Disneyland economic model that is doing so much damage to the region.

And ...

He ignored his hometown. Whenever any other area of the State elects one of its own the newly elected official works overtime to secure some benefit for the people that got him started. Someone said Fitzgerald didn't want to "play favorites". When is the last time you ever heard of any politician of any political party at any time say he couldn't help his supporters because that would be "playing favorites"?

Generally things are looking up for Lakewood, at least in the short term. However, the whole glass menagerie is very fragile. Anyone want to talk about armed robbery?
