The race the past weekend was for the Gay Games. The original Lakewood Criterium has been cancelled forever. (I am the director of the Lakewood Criterium)

That's too bad, it seemed like there was good turnout back in 2012.

The fact that it is canceled "forever" is very disappointing. It seemed like it was already building momentum after 2 years and we enjoyed it each time.

There were any factors as to why the Lakewood Criterium was cancelled. Only a few (maybe 2-3) businesses in that end of town actually wanted us there and we were fought ever step of the way.(trust me, the meetings were fierce and I still can't go into some of those places without getting yelled at) Also some in the city (city hall) felt that it was just too much work. I looked at other areas in Lakewood but felt there was no safe course to host this for the riders. If you look up Hyde Park Blast in Cinci that is what we were shooting for. A huge party atmosphere, however some people did not like that or as I say did not have the vision to see it get that big.
Brian (my husband) and I poured our hearts and souls into this race. We spent countless hours getting it together. It crushed me when I was at the last meeting and basically told "sorry we don't want you, bye bye". I walked away hurt, sad, confused, and beyond angry.

I am very sorry to hear the criterium was forever canceled. I thought it was one of the most interesting and personally exciting events in Lakewood. I wish I would have known that it was in danger (or even being discussed) so I could have helped fight for it.

This makes me very sad.
