Yes, I Get It, It's All Over! Really?

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

I am not sure when it happened, and many accuse me of overt negativity at times, though
I really think it is untrue, life is OK, what more does one expect?

But the calls and text messages started about 2am? Really people complaining and freaking
out at 2am? Another "50 White Guys With Machetes..." a fire, the end of days? I mean it
occurred to me that over the past couple years, its raining too much, too hot, too cold, too
much snow, not enough water, but everything seems to set someone off somewhere somehow.
So what on earth could cause the damn phone to light up at 2am.

"They are here, goddamnit they are here and we just got rid of the midges!!! What?
"Canadian Soldiers, they came in by the millions last night. and we just got rid of those damn
midges!!!" To be honest I saw some midges but after decades here on the north coast of
America they are but a passing couple days. "Huge swarms of them came in from Canada!!!"
I had to chuckle it reminded me of Peter Falk's discussion of mosquitoes coming into
South American towns at dusk. "Flies large enough to carry off small children, yes, they used
to call them the Flamenco Dancers of Death." But I said sure, and said, you know
in Canada they call them American soldiers, went back to bed.

To much real stuff to think about to worry about mufflheads that are almost dead the
moment you see them. I mean at some point some of this stuff you either get used to
or have to let go.

Yep, they were everywhere, but it was not as bad as I remembered. I remembered in the
old days, right after the first McDonald's was built, California style on Sloane Ave. When
for 2 solid weeks you could not see in the windows because of the bugs! Then they built
a glass surround, realizing that not just bugs, but we also had rain and snow. And for two
solid weeks you could not see inside the glass cube for the billions of North American
Soldiers, to be pc. Still nothing to get freaked out about.

Then I got to the office, and it seems someone left a window on the second floor hallway
open, and skipped shutting it on the way out.

A young women wearing Hijab style clothing was talking with Deb today near the bank.
She asked about the bugs, and Deb explained "They are Canadian soldiers..." The women
mentioned "in many countries they would be scooping them up, cooking them for protein."
Everyone nodded, then she said, "I wouldn't they are gross!"

Used to be the heart of town.
Don't tell me this town ain't got no heart.
You just gotta poke around.
