Shaking a fist at the clouds does little..... take your stand now.
Lakewood typically carries over some salt from year to year, purchasing and
storage practices have sufficed for quite awhile. Our shortage was not unique.
Maybe something is afoot with the weather ? Maybe not.
Should we call it a fluke winter and remember that we have labeled it so ?
or
Should we plan for aggressive salt purchasing and storage redundancies and
remember that we demanded it ?
Please speak now. Fluke or Foreshadowing ? Our exceptional past as a city
that was always above the fray had so much to do with resident input.
The time is now. Will next winter be as brutal ? Should we save for a snowy day ?
Double or Nothing ?

We have the funds to increase our winter roadsalt storage capacity and timing
of delivery to our purchasing advantage. Put another dome on Berea Road.
Jumping up a notch into the modern science of winter road treatments might
give some advantage to those workers who do much with little.
20 States and hundreds of Municipalities who were caught short on DOT brokered
imported salt deals are realizing that a new storage approach is necessary.
Why is this falling off the radar so fast ?
