I don't have any more details than this, but ....
Tonight, (Friday Aug 9) at Kauffman Park Warm up event:6:30pm - Kickball - City of Lakewood Employees vs. Lakewood City School EmployeesHeadliner:8:30pm - Softball - Lakewood Police Department vs. Lakewood Fire DepartmentHelps raise money for Lakewood Recreation Scholarship Fund!
Food trucks to be on site to provide refreshments!
Sounds like FUN!!!

Please keep a good thought for, and perhaps send regards to Don Sharp, President of the Community Recreation & Education Commission. Don has been instrumental in creating this event and advocating its cause. He is home due to health issues and will likely be unable to attend tonight's events or the weekend tournaments.

It was, Ed, a great night! GORGEOUS weather; a good cause; neighbors and friends; friendly rivalries. Lakewood at its best.

Law Director Kevin Butler played a decent left field ... and was heard repeatedly bragging throughout the evening about being named "Best Athlete" in his 2nd Grade Class! I would have honored him with the "Best Smile" award. Thanks for the kind words, Kevin! (now my wife believes I really

In the Warm Up game (kickball), the Schoolers schooled City Hall 8-0.

In the Main Event game (softball), the law men spanked the firefighters 19-12(?). But good sportsmanship abounds ...

I interviewed the family of crickets who make their home in center field (really, they are there!!) ...
