Board of Ed Special Mtg. & Retreat-June 13

Post by Betsy Voinovich »

A message from Treasurer Tim Penton:

A Board of Education and Superintendent’s Cabinet Retreat will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2013, in the Board Auditorium at the Lakewood Board of Education Building, 1470 Warren Road, Lakewood, Ohio 44107 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. for the purpose of planning for the 2013-14 school year and any other business that may come before the Board. The agenda is attached.

Tim Penton,

Treasurer/CFO

There was no agenda attached but from what I have heard, these retreats are great to attend. There is a more casual atmosphere, more discussion, though there is not a time for community input. If you have the time, try to go, you will learn a lot and get a chance to know the Board and Administration members better.

City Council did this sort of thing back in April. (I think it was April. I'll have to find the Minutes of that meeting and post them).

This kind of gathering - as Betsy indicates - truly does have a different feel. And while it is still an official, on-the-record, public meeting, it will have a less formal flavor.

Even I might attend this one. I say that half-jokingly as I do not have children in Our school system and rarely tune into school board related issues ... but the more I learn about how a community could/should work, I realize that knowing all the players and all the moving pieces and parts helps put the proverial puzzle together.
"So, let's make the most of this beautiful day.
Since we're together we might as well say:
Would you be mine? Could you be mine?
Won't you be my neighbor?"
