Car Drives In To The Exchange And Not For Service!

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

Around 12:45 Saturday afternoon, 06.08.2013 A woman driving east on Detroit needed to
take avoiding actions from a car trying to turn into Burger King Restaurant, losing control of
her car, going over the sidewalk and right into The Exchange.

It went through the front window, right where the cash register is, pinning the employee
between the front of the car, and the counter breaking their leg.

The driver of the Honda was not hurt but was flustered, and the car received very little damage.

I'm not wanting to point fingers but that doesn't appear to be an
"I was driving 25MPH down Detroit when this idiot cuts me off" kind of accident.
Speed seems to be the common denominator of drivers on the city streets, I'll go out of my
way to drive 25 past my destination just to make the people behind me understand the term speed limit

It is remarkable, especially at that time of day, that no one was on the sidewalk and injured.

I do hope the driver is cited and fined.

Another publication is reporting the driver was exiting Burger King and hit the accelerator instead of the brake.

That being said, it seems like there's less and less traffic enforcement lately and people are running wild. Someone knocked down the crosswalk light in front of the Carlyle last night and I'm not sure if any police responded.

That's what all the cameras are for above the traffic lights, streetlights, and throughout the City ... Oh ... according to City Hall ... those cameras aren't really cameras ... carry on ...
