Pessimism is the new "cool"

Since we're together we might as well say:
Would you be mine? Could you be mine?
Won't you be my neighbor?"

It's not easy to be, or to act, pessimistic... when one is playing the banjo.

In fact...just the opposite seems to occur...

It's inevitable, I suppose....

Most anytime I play the thing, people start smiling and laughing....

Whether that would be at my talent, or lack thereof?

When I DO try and put a serious deadpan expression on my face, that might work when I'm playing some deeply sentimental jazz guitar piece, but try that same look while playing the banjo?

People seem to laugh all the louder.

At times, anyway....

I wish they'd learn to relax and laugh even more.

Whatever others may report, and I may indeed be wrong here, but I still think that laughter trumps upset and worry, any day of the week. :D

Back to the banjo... :D

Sure ... just like in Deliverance ... which ... by the way ... was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" in 2008. See http://www.loc.gov/today/pr/2008/08-237.html.

Well then, put in those terms, I reckon that it all might just depend on which river you planned to travel on.

Back to the banjo... :D
