We made it.

Post by Betsy Voinovich »

Hi all--

Well it's the morning after. Mayan calendar has ended. Our high schoolers made it through whatever scary rumors were floating around yesterday, we have snow but the power is still on. We're hanging together pretty well.

Here is a pre-Apocalypse rainbow from Thursday afternoon.

It's TOMORROW!!

The sun'll come out
Tomorrow
Bet your bottom dollar
That tomorrow
There'll be sun!

Just thinkin' about
Tomorrow
Clears away the cobwebs,
And the sorrow
'Til there's none!

When I'm stuck a day
That's gray,
And lonely,
I just stick out my chin
And Grin,
And Say,
Oh!

The sun'll come out
Tomorrow
So ya gotta hang on
'Til tomorrow
Come what may
Tomorrow! Tomorrow!
I love ya Tomorrow!
You're always
A day
A way!

This whole thing reminds me of the inanely profound lyric from Rock 'n Roll legend Uriah Heep's song "Circle of Hands" from their classic 1972 album Demons and Wizards ... "today is yesterday's tomorrow"

Here is a post-Mayan calendar apocalypse; post-killer storm Draco; post-shooting at the high school rumor photo in Lakewood from this morning!

Since we're together we might as well say:
Would you be mine? Could you be mine?
Won't you be my neighbor?"

In Lakewood, the day after the "supposed-end-of-the-world" draws to a close just as it began ... with a glimmer of hope!

“Only in the darkness can you see the stars.” ~Martin Luther King Jr.
