It's About Time

I've read that the City of Lakewood is set to hire a statehouse lobbyist. It's something I suggested years ago. It does little good for City officials to work overtime to balance a budget, make difficult choices and do more with less when the State simply uses the savings to fund spending in Columbus.

Of course the proposal does not go far enough. Cities need to for their own political action committee. One immediate goal should be to restore the recently cut local government funds by consitutional amendment.

The State (as is the federal government) is found of demanding that cities fund this and that without providing the money to fund this and that. It's time to fight back.
