Red Rooster closing

Post by Justine Cooper »

It looks like Red Rooster is closing too. He told us it was personal/divorce issues and has been dark with lights off every day. That makes me sad because it is a good little neighborhood store. Another hit for the east side.

Seems like a spat of personal issues killing stores more than lack of business!

I stumbled in there one afternoon coming out of City Hall and was amazed at how good
their chicken was. I have to think some of the best in Lakewood. They had some other
interesting items as well, that had been missing from Lakewood for years.

When KFC lowered the price of 9 pieces to $9. I remembering thinking, damn that will
kill they off.

Another one bites the dust, and no that is not one of the three I know about.

It's sad, my kids loved the chicken and jojo fries, and the owner was always sweet to them. It will be missed ...

We did too Paul-he had some good Middle Eastern salads and dips too. No Jim I never patronize Kentucky Fried Chicken after viewing the documentaries on how they raise their chickens in such horrible conditions and pump up with hormones. I am sure most chicken we eat is like that but that documentary was horrible so price means nothing. He closed for personal reasons. It was a big treat to walk there with the kids and dog to get an ice cream so they are sad. I hope someone takes over. We need a corner store over here.
