Please excuse my brevity. I am sure most are happy seeing a short note.
Here is Volume 8, Issue 2. Another great effort by the residents, businesses, civic leaders, and elected officials, both past and present. I cannot tell you how thankful everyone connected with the Lakewood Observer Project is over this. From the very moment this project started we knew that Lakewoodites would know the difference between being quoted randomly through the eyes and ears of others, and the power of owning your own words and amplifying them yourself. Thank you, for reaffirming our faith in the good people and businesses of Lakewood.
Now even better news. I am working on 5 projects outside of Lakewood. In each community, the civic leaders and elected officials know full well that Lakewood is both unique, and light years ahead of the rest of the region in stability. This is a good thing. Each and every new project is centered around a community that had their moment in the sun, and is now fighting to even get a glimpse of the light of day. Some are currently very hip, but see their days as the Belle of the Ball being very short term. However, they all see Lakewood as the spot to emulate, and be like.
I am not talking about people walking the streets who hear stories or read magazine puff pieces. I am talking about the heart, soul, and bones of communities, and the people getting paid to know. However it should be noted, they have not mentioned a single mall or big box store, or development. What they have mentioned is bela dubby, The Root, Melt, Deagan's, Beck Center, Schools, and always the engaged and intelligent residents.
We--yes all of us--must keep this going, and to quote Emeril LaGasse, "We have to kick it up a notch." And do what we do better than all of the others. This should be great news for everyone. We do not need to reinvent ourselves. We just have to do what we do better.
DAMN I LOVE THIS CITY. Because of the businesses and residents, not in spite of them.
Support Lakewood, we are all making a difference.
peace
