Called to help yet again

Post by Missy Limkemann »

I swear I am going to disconnect my phone and email. LOL.
ADH was called upon again. This time for a family in need. Yes a sweet momma girl and her 10 (yes 10) 4 day old puppies. They will be here tomorrow night (6/8) and we are hoping to get them settled right away. We are also working on hosting another Rally this summer (shooting for July 9th) if we can raise the money for the permit fee and some other things. (we had a huge hit with our last foster dog that was in the hospital for over a month and cost about 3 grand to heal)
Anyway here is momma dog and her pups:

Missy, I've said it before and will say it again. You are a saint.

That dog, my goodness, so cute. But her eyes. They make me melt. She looks so scared or concerned. She and her puppies will be alright in your hands, though.

Missy,
God Bless You! Such a sweet mama :) Do you know what breed she and the pups are?
What are the immediate needs?

She is here now. Got here about 7pm. Covered still in ticks/fleas. That will be taken care of first thing in the morning. She is also covered in wounds. This poor girl was badly abused, attacked or something. A couple babies have wounds on them too. This is horrible. She has been thru a horrific ordeal and will have scars forever.

With all that she has been thru, she is a very sweet girl. Gentle and loving. She was eating out of my hand, kissing my face and letting me look over the puppies. This was after she was here for about an hour. I have never seen such small puppies before. I have had newborns here, even Chihuahua newborns and these babies are smaller. 10 in all, 2 are white with some markings, most are brindle in color. Remind me of boxer mixes. (my weakness)

I am going to have to get puppy food for her. Mommas need their puppy food. Plus getting her parasites under control. She is super skinny, and I am hoping she is strong enough to feed these babies.

Just a bit of an update on this sweet family. Momma is a very sweet girl. The whole family went to the vet yesterday for a quick check. Besides having a massive flea allergy and being dirty, momma is overall healthy. Heartworm negative and I am treating for normal parasites (worms, fleas/ticks etc). The puppies all look amazing, getting bigger every day and starting to move a lot more. Once they start walking and stuff that is when I am going to be begging for help to clean and walk. LOL. Momma does a great job now. There are 6 boys, 4 girls and there are moments where I wish I could keep them all and just snuggle them up. However my husband will divorce me and I will be left to live in a car with a million dogs. LOL. I am hoping if all goes well these babies will be ready for their homes in August. They will of course have their "worm" medication and poo samples tested, given vaccines and will be spayed or neutered. Every dog/puppy, cat/kitten goes home already spay/neutered so you don't have to worry about that.

We will be at various events thru out the summer if you want to come check us out. (mainly me...lol) I was planning on hosting a big event again this summer, but with the upcoming construction at Drug Mart in downtown, Kauffman Park is out and I can't afford the $$ for the permit fee. :(

Keep following us on Facebook or the website and there will be updates. When the time is ready, I will be begging, on hands and knees, for people to help walk these guys.
